Math About Me & Some Goal Setting Fun!

Hi friends! I've had several requests for packets of the activities I posted about
a few weeks ago.  {You can see my original post here.}    I truly appreciate your emails
and I hope you like how they turned out! Enjoy!
I  do this at the beginning of the year but it could really be done anytime!  It's a fun way to help younger kiddos make connections to the fact that math is all around us and we use it each and every day!  It also helps students (and me!) get to know their new friends by sharing about their lives. With my second graders, I also use it during the first week of school to catch two birds with one stone!  At my school we reintroduce circle maps the first week as a way to organize our thinking while describing.  I tie in math by having students think about all the different ways we can describe ourselves, even with Math!
I've included an anchor chart to project or print  to help you introduce the lesson:

You can find Math About Me here!

This is another activity I do with my kiddos early in the year. I have them think about goals they would like to set for themselves and we make these little goal guys and girls!  They're always a big hit!   I leave them up all year in the classroom as a reminder of what they've set out to accomplish.
