Easy Parent Christmas Gift and Classroom Traditions

Here's an easy parent Christmas gift using
inexpensive dollar store finds.

Easy Parent Christmas Gift

We made these super simple parent gifts with candles from
Dollar Tree and used Mod Podge to glue on tissue paper squares.
Watered down school glue works great too.

We added the little pictures from the school
photographer to the front then used glitter glue
pens to add a frame around the picture.

A yearly tradition in my classroom is our
Catch Me If You Can gingerbread book study. Each
year we compare and analyze many different
versions of The Gingerbread Man.

The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School reading activities

This week we read one of my very favorites,
The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School.
You can see more of our gingerbread man activities here.

We even made a Loose In Our School class book to send to
our gingerbread exchange buddies!

It's an original poem I wrote with the same rhythm and cadence
of T'was The Night Before Christmas that tells all about
the adventures of our gingerbread men loose in our school!

If you'd like to make one with your class,
I  just posted this Loose In Our School Class Book
in my TPT shop in a little bundle
that includes the book template and gingerbread man craft
along with a missing poster, editable cover, and picture file.

In other news....
I finally tackled the tree lights.

We got off to a rocky start but I finally got her (mostly) working.
She's so lovely I wish I could leave her up all year!

I also recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by
Dr. Michael Methvin from ClassroomNinja about how
TeachersPayTeachers is impacting classrooms
and helping teachers to save time and work smarter.
TeachersPayTeachers: Impacting classrooms and enabling teachers to save time and work smarter.
One of my favorite classroom traditions is to have my
class make Secret Santa of kind words cards for each other.

Students choose names and then make cards with words
of kindness for each other.  I'm always so proud of
all of the sweetness they write to each other.

Before I go I have to show you the cutest thing! During our
holidays around the world this week one of my students
gave a presentation about Hanukkah and even brought
in one of his family traditions.....are you ready?
It's a Mensch on a Bench!

Have fun with your class and I hope your last week
is merry and bright!
