Gingerbread Following Multi-step Directions

Here's a little following multi-step directions activity I do with my kiddos. I project the colored 

page onto my SMARTBoard and ask questions about following the steps in the recipe. 

My kids tend to make a lot of assumptions without rereading at first, so I'll ask things like

"What is the second ingredient you add?"  They will invariably respond with "An egg!" because 

it is direction #2, when in fact, the second thing you add is water. It's a quick little lesson on

the importance of reading carefully and going back to reread!
