I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!
Here are 5 random things from my week!
Here are 5 random things from my week!
1. A few things from my classroom...
These are some of the activities we did during our unit on Westward Expansion.
We made advertisements for the Pony Express. I love that one little friend is even willing to pay
you if you'll use their service!
My kiddos made these little tri-folds depicting some of the causes and effects of westward expansion.

My team and I had SUCH a hard time finding literature to use with
our second graders on this topic, which brings me to number 2!
2. Thank you, Rachel Lynette!
Author and TPT friend, Rachel Lynette has written a
series of 6 nonfiction books related to westward expansion geared toward second and third grade!
They'll be available this summer and include these titles:
Sacajawea
The Louisiana Purchase
Lewis and Clark
The Oregon Trail
The Transcontinental Railroad
and The California Gold Rush
I'm practically giddy about this! I've spent a TON of time this year searching for nonfiction and
informational text at my second graders' reading level in an effort to combine ELA standards
with science and social studies!
You can find many additional books by Rachel Lynette on her fabulous blog
Minds in Bloom
3. A Little Shout Out to Cara Carroll
I used her wonderful Fraction Action pack in my math stations this week! Actually, this is the second
time I've used them! There are just a ton of activities in her unit and we used half of them when I initially taught fractions and then went back around and used the other half for review and test prep!
You can find it and all kinds of fabulousness {HERE}

Granny Goes to School
Hi Cindy! Thanks for stopping by! I love kids' artwork and I really have some great little artists this year! I have one little girl who will draw a picture an then turn her paper over and draw what she imagines the perspective from the backside is...amazing!
