There are so many wonderful apple books
and videos for kids it's hard to decide which
ones to use. I've compiled a few
favorite that I use each year
and my class really enjoys!
During our apple festival we read
lots of nonfiction as well as realistic fiction
about apples and their life cycle.

I discovered this book several years ago and
almost passed it up since I've never been much
of a fan of acrostic poems for second graders.
This one is very different though! So cleverly written,
each page tells a riddle through the use of phrases
for each letter of the answer. It's perfect for
modeling this format and getting older kids to
write more substantial acrostic poems!
My school library has a copy of the book,
but for some reason Amazon doesn't carry it.
