I'm linking up with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching to share 5 random things
about my week!
1. It was nice to get back to the school routine! We started our writing this week
with a mini-lesson on the history of the New Year's resolution,
then we defined a resolution.
After writing some resolutions of our own and how we would follow through with them,
my kiddos made these party horns from my New Year's Resolution Writing Activities.
I always love the things my kids come up with, but this particular one made me smile!
I even got the bulletin board up the same day we finished... a major accomplishment!
2. Data and graphing is a big focus for us this quarter. We've been collecting/interpreting/graphing data throughout the year and my kids have it down, so I don't plan to spend too much more time on it. Before we move on though, I wanted to be sure my students could organize data and generate different types of graphs. We did an oldie but goodie with the M&M's left over from our gingerbread cookie glyphs.
3. I checked out a FANTASTIC Common Core math site I read about on my favorite math blog,
the amazing Math Coach's Corner. I spent hours last night going through this site!
You can read all about it in Donna's post here.
4. Target Finds
I found these this week at Target and thought they had potential for my small groups and literacy stations!
I found these plates (I used the small ones for my bulletin board.) in the party section
and the doilies(for my 100th day project) in the dollar section. My kids will be writing
about themselves at 100 years old and creating self portraits.
Nothing says granny like a lace collar!
5. Please don't judge, but these make me laugh...really hard! The kind of funny
you're still giggling about hours later! That Ryan Gosling has got it goin' on!
He even knows not to use the fabric scissors on paper! (In case you don't sew,
cutting paper means the end of a pair of fabric scissors!)
Thanks for reading my random ramblings! I hope you all have a great weekend!
Don't forget to check out Kacey's blog to read more Five for Fridays!
I love the plate idea! We always do the picture of ourselves at 100 years old, but this makes a frame for them - love that! I also love that you used them on your bulletin board, it took me a second to figure out what they were. Congrats on your TpT accomplishment as well, I just read about you on the newsletter! Yay You!

Thank you, Heidi! That's so sweet of you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea to use plates as the frames! So funny you should mention the 100th day because I am planning for ours as we speak! I was even just trying to figure out a shape I could use for the frames!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for the sweet congrats!
Ha! I do <3 that Ryan Gosling, too!! I'm your newest follower! :)
